2015 – National Currency Coin (Bitcoin Fork)

During the 2014-2015 wave of national cryptocurrency experiments, we partnered with a client to develop a country-specific digital currency aimed at complementing their national monetary system.

Asset Development

  • Forked Bitcoin’s codebase to create a sovereign blockchain, adjusting mining parameters to encourage decentralized participation.
  • Hard-capped the total supply to align with the client’s national population, ensuring scarcity and symbolic value.
  • Engineered a lightweight wallet with localized language support and simplified mining tutorials for accessibility.

Website Creation & Brand Identity

  • Developed a straightforward website framing the coin as a “modern supplement to national currency,” emphasizing civic pride and financial inclusivity.
  • Hosted wallet downloads, mining guides, and a manifesto outlining the project’s vision for decentralized fiscal sovereignty.

PR & Influence Marketing

  • Targeted Facebook groups and forums centered on patriotism, technology, and finance to attract early adopters.
  • Ran Google Ads campaigns until platform restrictions on crypto promotions necessitated a shift to organic growth strategies.
  • Collaborated with local tech influencers to position the coin as a community-driven alternative to centralized monetary systems.

Outcome

  • The project garnered initial enthusiasm, with adoption driven by grassroots mining efforts and localized advocacy.
  • Over time, interest dwindled as global attention shifted away from national currency experiments toward broader blockchain applications.
  • Despite fading traction, the project served as a foundational case study in balancing idealism with technical execution.
